The PBS Committee
requests that Airbus pilots who have not yet completed and returned the PBS development
survey do so as soon as possible. Only 30 of you have returned surveys. Check the new PBS
KIT system message for more details.
R&I Update
Surveying, Polling
and Voting
If you don’t care
about surveys and polls, you can say so or just ignore the whole thing. But remember, this
is a democracy. One person, one vote. If you don’t vote, you don’t count.

To help raise money for
Pat and her family in their time of need, the crew schedulers are planning a bake sale, as
well as setting up a donation fund. If you would like to make a direct donation, please
contact Lori Umstead or Brenda Baldenegro in Dispatch, or Ellie Preisendorf in Flight
Standards at the hangar. They can provide you with information on where to send your
donation.
To Pat and her family,
please know that you have the care, concern and support of every America West pilot.

MEC Hotline
Good evening, this is MEC Chairman Roger Cox
with the MEC Hotline update for Thursday, April 20. Tonight’s topics are:
The second parallel bid run for Airbus pilots will open tomorrow morning, April 21, at
0800 for bid 166. The bid closes Wednesday the 26th at 0800 and results will be
published the 28th .
The R&I Committee plans to distribute a new R&I Update by early next
week. Look for the publication in the literature holders outside of the Phoenix crew
lounge.
Are you getting survey fatigue? Last month we had an abnormal number of turndowns on our
Wilson Poll, and I suspect some of you just didn’t want to answer the same questions
again. Let’s make a deal. If you promise to answer the poll I promise to change some
of the questions. We’re working on some new issues to ask about and I welcome your
suggestions.
Skip is recovering from heart bypass surgery which took place Tuesday. I spoke with him
today and he seems to be doing well and hopes to go home in the next few days. Once he
gets home I’m sure he’d like to hear from all his friends. In the meantime, he
has our best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.
Many of you who were here at America West in the early years remember Pat as one of the
gentlest and nicest crew schedulers we have had. Pat has been struck with a degenerative
muscle disease, and is currently in a nursing home. Her condition is not good.
The MEC will hold its next meeting on May 8-9 in Phoenix. During this meeting, committee
chairmen appointments and re-appointments will be conducted. The terms of all committee
chairmen will expire on April 30. If you are interested in being considered for
appointment to an MEC committee, please express your interest in writing by May 3 to any
MEC member or officer.
The next Local Council meeting will be held next Tuesday, May 9. The time and location
will be announced at a later time.
