MEC Hotline
Good evening, this is MEC Vice Chairman Bill
Archer with the MEC Hotline update for Thursday, May 4. Tonight’s topics are:
Our Negotiating Committee will complete another week-long negotiating session here in
Phoenix Friday May the 5th. Please listen to the Negotiating Committee PRESS Conference
KIT system update on Friday evening for an update from committee Chairman Pete Neff.
Congratulations to the new captain bidders announced yesterday on vacancy bid 2000-11. It
is noteworthy that the time to upgrade has made a dramatic jump. We have nine-year pilots
upgrading, and we have four-year pilots upgrading. If the growth continues as planned,
time to upgrade will continue to drop.
PBS Committee Chairman Del Brummett reports that the company has agreed to delay going
online with PBS for the Airbus fleet until bid 169, which starts July 23. Parallel
bidding, however, will continue for the Airbus pilots. Boeing pilots will begin parallel
bidding with bid 167. Boeing pilots will need to start turning in their paper bid for bid
167 on May 19.
AWA payroll department accidentally ignored the final Contract 95 pay raise due the AWA
pilots on April 29th. This oversight was immediately brought to their attention by the MEC
office, and we’ve been assured that the error will be corrected on the May 11th
pay check. We strongly urge all pilots to reconcile their gross earnings for pay period
April 30th through May 12th to insure that they are receiving the
proper hourly rate.
As a reminder, the next MEC meeting will be held this coming Monday and Tuesday, May 8-9
in Phoenix. Monday evening from 6-8PM all committee members and their spouses are
encouraged to attend a reception hosted by the MEC at the Double Tree. Please call the
ALPA office by Friday May the 5th to let us know if you will be attending the
reception.
