This is Scott Sherrin with a special
MEC hotline on Tuesday, September 11 at 2050 Mountain Time.
America West has confirmed that crews
on all diverted flights and crews on layovers this morning have
been accommodated at hotels and are released to prepare for resumed
flight operations. Currently, the company is planning to resume
flights at 12 noon EDT tomorrow, pending a lift of the national
groundstop by the FAA. Crew Scheduling will make an attempt to contact
those crews whose flights and pairings were interrupted at outlying
stations by midnight EDT tonight with more specific information.
If you have been unable to reach
Crew Scheduling, keep trying. As you can imagine, they are inundated
with calls.
Each station manager has been given
the responsibility of coordinating security of aircraft at all outstations.
Flight crews should check with the station managers for details
about security of their aircraft when checking in for flights.
The MEC office will open at 8:30
Wednesday morning. Please call (800) 632-2925 if you have any questions
or need any assistance. The MEC thanks all members for their cooperation
during this emergency situation.
