MEC Hotline

This is Peter Blandino with the MEC Hotline
for Thursday, March 6, 2003. Tonight’s topics:

1. Special MEC Meeting
2. Flight Safety Meeting with Senior Management
3. Road show Schedule
4. Voting Information

Special MEC Meeting

On Monday, March 3rd, your newly elected
officers conducted a special MEC
meeting at the Council 62 Strike Center. Among the items discussed was
the
final resolution passed by the outgoing MEC last Friday. This resolution

served to amend the November 20th resolution calling for 21 days of road

shows to reflect the actual road show schedule previously published. While

this decision by the prior MEC has been questioned by some of our membership,

the incoming officers felt that the reasons for the change were justified.
In
short, the road show schedule reflects the realities of scheduling various

venues on short notice and with finite resources. The MEC also discussed
the
currently vacant MEC Chairman position. The MEC is currently accepting

resume’s from interested parties who are willing to serve as either MEC

Chairman or Vice Chairman. Interviews will be conducted next Wednesday,
March
12th, at the Council 62 offices when the MEC reconvenes the special meeting.

Flight Safety Meeting with Senior Management

On Friday, March 7th, the MEC will meet
with Senior Management to discuss the
recently passed resolution of no confidence with regard to the America
West
Airlines Operations Safety Department. We are gratified at management’s

immediate response to our concerns and at their willingness to meet with
us
on very short notice in an effort to resolve those issues that led to
the
resolution.

Road Show Schedule

Road shows continue this evening with the
MEC traveling to Las Vegas for a
presentation in the terminal building adjacent to gate B17. If you are
in Las
Vegas tonight, we encourage you to stop by. Next week road shows will

continue in Phoenix at the terminal 4 meeting room both Thursday and Friday

afternoons from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Since no facility was available for
road
shows earlier in the week, members of the MEC and some of our presenters
will
be available in the crew lounge at the Sky Harbor airport both Monday
and
Tuesday to answer questions. On Monday, March 17th, the MEC will host
the
final two road shows at the terminal 4 meeting room. The presentations
will
begin at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Voting Information

Ballots open Saturday, March 8th and close
Tuesday, March 18th. This week you
should receive voting instructions in the mail. As in previous ballots,
you
will be able to vote either telephonically or via the Internet. We encourage

all members to make their voices heard and vote.

That’s it for tonight; the next hotline
update will be on Thursday, March
13th.
