West Union Employees Donate Toys, More Than $4,000 to AASK-Arizona
PHOENIX – The union-represented employees of
America West Airlines today will present Aid to Adoption of Special Kids-Arizona
(AASK) with more than 100 toys and $4,000 donated in conjunction with the
unions’ holiday party held last night. The presentation will be at 3:30 p.m.
at the Phoenix AASK office, 501 E. Thomas Road.
America West employees who are members of the
Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the Association of Flight
Attendants (AFA), the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and the
Transport Workers Union (TWU) made the donations directly and through a silent
auction held at the party. The America West unit of ALPA sponsors the annual
celebration.
“We are pleased to present AASK once again
this year with these donations to help support the great work they do,”
said Captain Win Copeland, an America West pilot and coordinator of the donation
drive. “Through their foster care and adoption services, AASK helps find
loving homes for kids with special needs. We are proud to support such a wonderful
cause.”
In addition to their other services, each December
AASK sponsors a gift drive to help brighten the holidays for children in foster
care throughout Arizona.
Collectively, ALPA, AFA, IBT and TWU represent
6,000 employees at America West Airlines.
