International Jumpseats on Continental
Captain Marty Quick, ALPA’s Jumpseat Chairman, has successfully negotiated access for
America West pilots to Continental Airlines’ jumpseat for international routes. In other
jumpseat news, America West has agreed to extend jumpseat privileges to Western Pacific
flight crews for sixty days. For additional information, check the pilot read file or
jumpseat hotline update on this KIT system.
KIT System Updates
The Central Air Safety, Jumpseat and other committees have updated their hotline messages
on this KIT System. A new message from ALPA National President Captain Randy Babbitt was
also recorded on Saturday. Please access these updates for more specific information.
Merger Fund
The MEC would like to remind pilots that the Merger Assessment is due in full. The
original timeframe for the payment of this assessment was during the 1997 calendar year.
Please review your contributions to date and remit any
outstanding balance. Remember the assessment is in full compliance with ALPA’s
Constitution & By-Laws and is your responsibility. Failure to comply with this or any
assessment can have a negative impact on your standing with the Association. As every
pilot will benefit from the merger assessment in the event of industry consolidation, so
must every pilot contribute.
The MEC will be conducting a final audit of the merger
account and expects all pilots to have contributed equally to the merger fund. Don’t allow
yourself to be identified as someone unwilling to support your fellow pilots.
Pilot Retirements
On behalf of all pilots, the MEC would like to acknowledge the contributions of Captain
Jim Knowles and Captain Bob Rowe, who are retiring this week from America West Airlines.
We commend them for their years of professionalism and safe service to the traveling
public. Best wishes to Bob and Jim in their retirement years.
The next scheduled hotline is Thursday, March 5. Thank you
for listening.
