Ballot Results
Ballots on the side letters of agreement and MEC Chairman will be counted in Herndon,
Virginia on February 10. We will announce the results as soon as they become available.
Wilson Center for Public Research
The MEC has contracted with the Wilson Center for Public Research to conduct opinion
polling of America West pilots. The telephone polling will continue on a monthly basis. If
you are contacted by the Wilson Center for Public Research, please take the time to voice
your opinions.
Hotel Safety Alert
An America West pilot was recently robbed of cash and credit cards at the Claremont Hotel
in Ontario, Calif., a non-ALPA approved hotel. The MEC Hotel Committee urges all pilots to
request rooms with proper security and remain cautious when traveling.
Local Council Meeting
Our next local council meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. Note that this meeting
will be at a new location: the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel on Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe.
All members in good standing are welcome to attend.

| There are six items for discussion this evening. Grievance Mediation An important grievance was submitted to Grievance Mediation this week, an historic first for America West and this pilot group. Mediators from the National Mediation Board are working with the MEC, key committee members and management representatives to resolve the issue of pilots assigned to AT status when displaced for training. If a resolution is achieved, the practice of assigning AT for training displacement will become a thing of the past. If mediation is not successful, the Association will retain the right to take the grievance to arbitration. We are encouraged by the progress of the mediation session to date. Expect an announcement of the results of the session shortly. |
