On behalf of the America West MEC, I’d like to offer congratulations
to America West and its flight attendants on achieving a tentative contract agreement.
This achievement demonstrates that the negotiating process can, and does, work. We now
encourage the flight attendant rank-and-file to study the agreement carefully, and remain
united behind their leadership as they approach the ratification process.

All America West pilots should be particularly heartened by
this achievement as we prepare for our own contract negotiations. With the AFA contract
complete, we expect to fully engage management as we seek significant improvements in our
own contract. The flight attendants’ success serves as a reminder that the bargaining
process, long though it may be, will work if the parties engage it in good faith.

As a major first step, our negotiating committee is putting
the finishing touches on a contract survey. Look for distribution over the next few
months.

Incidentally, with AFA negotiations complete, we have
dismantled our emergency MEC phone bank.

In any case, stay focused and professional, fly safe, and
wear your ALPA pin. Remember: AFA achieved success through unity. We will do the same. The
next scheduled hotline update will be Thursday, March 25th. Thanks for
listening.
