LEC Members Take Office
Our new Local Executive Council members officially took office on Monday, March 1. Pilots
should now contact either LEC Chairman Jack Ryan, LEC Vice Chairman David Chambless, LEC
Secretary-Treasurer Mike Calabrese, or First Officer representatives Eric Durnal or Gary
Bakewell via the KIT system, on the line, or in the MEC office, with any inquiries
concerning Council 62 business. Within the next few weeks, we will distribute a
wallet-size card containing contact numbers for each member of the LEC, as well as other
important ALPA and MEC numbers. The first formal meeting of the new MEC will be held on
Tuesday, March 9.

Pilot “No Strike” Side Letter

New Chief Pilot Takes Office

MEC Web Site

Also, Communications Specialist Yvette Freeman has
completely redesigned the site to make it easier for pilots to find information about the
MEC, the LEC, and the various committees. We encourage all pilots with Internet access to
regularly visit the web site and use it as a source for up-to-date, and accurate
information concerning the MEC. We anticipate that the change-over will be complete by
mid-March.

That concludes this week’s update. Fly safely; fly
your contract; and wear your pins and ribbons. The next scheduled hotline will be
Thursday, March 11 or sooner if news develops. Thanks for listening.

  MEC Hotline
This is Communications Committee Chairman David Weeks with the MEC
Hotline for March 4. Tonight’s topics are:

Within the next few days, a letter from MEC Chairman Don Steinman will also be distributed
to all pilots. It will explain the nature of our “No Strike” side letter in
relation to a possible job action by America West’s flight attendants.

On Monday March 1st, Captain J.R. Baker officially became America West’s
new Chief Pilot. He replaces Captain Randy Olin, who has returned to the line.

Within the next few weeks, the MEC web site will be moved from our current Internet
Service Provider to the ALPA national internet server. Pilots who visit the web site on
the Internet will not see a change when entering the public site. However, in order to
access the MEC committee pages and other areas of the site which will not be open to the
public, you will need to input your ALPA number and a new password. This new setup will
eliminate the need to have a user ID and password for our members only site, and then a
separate ID and password to access ALPA’s members only site. Once the move is
complete, in order to access the members only sections of both web sites, you will only
need your ALPA number and a password. You will not be able to use your current password
after the site has been moved. For those of you who have forgotten your ALPA number or
have not yet obtained a password for the ALPA web site, we will provide instructions
within the next week for obtaining your ALPA number and password.
